Nearing 100,000 words in combined length, Matt’s written columns for both the opinion pages of the Walton Sun, a weekly paper that services the residents of Walton County, Florida and for the Independent Florida Alligator at the University of Florida, the nation’s largest student-run newspaper. Matt started writing for the Sun weekly when he was 16 and stopped shortly after he turned 18. His columns focused on local/national politics and cultural trends. While at the Sun, Matt was approached by a national syndication service interested in syndicating his work, unfortunately due to cutbacks on part of the company the proposal stalled.
Matt started writing for the Alligator his first year at the University of Florida. His columns have focused almost exclusively on state and national politics. While at the Alligator, Matt’s columns have been regularly featured on university press syndicate wires, allowing his work to be published in college newspapers across the nation, including the newspapers of Tufts University, Penn State, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
