Matthew Christ is a junior at the University of Florida, majoring in political science and advertising.


He wrote a weekly column for The Walton Sun from May 2007-June 2008, entitled “Young Wisdom.” The column focused on Florida politics, local and national culture, and the 2008 presidential primaries.


Since January 2009 Matt has been a regular columnist for the Independent Florida Alligator at the University of Florida, the largest student-run newspaper in the country. His column focuses on national politics and cultural trends. In addition to being a regular columnist for the Alligator, many of his columns have appeared as syndicate content for Tufts University, Colorado State University, Texas State University, Marquette University, Western Illinois University, UPenn and Penn State student newspapers.


Matt has also hosted a talk-show on a community radio station, 30A Radio, 107.1 FM. He’s interviewed Super Bowl Winning NFL coach Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints, Florida political figures and New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani.


Occasionally, he writes for VIE Magazine, a boutique magazine covering Northwest Florida.


Matt spends his time in between Gainesville, Florida at the University of Florida and Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, his hometown. He loves old sports cars, can chug a gallon of orange juice in one sitting and enjoys writing about state and national politics.
